To be honest, I was shocked by how much I liked this book. I had just picked it up from the school library because I had nothing to read and so I read it solely based on it's title. I know it is quite well-known but I literally had no idea until my friend told me.
So the book basically follows a woman, Rachel, who takes the same train at the same time every morning and evening. She is divorced and depressed. The train takes her past the same path everyday and so she sees the same houses. the train stops at the same bend everyday then continues after a couple of minutes. She asses these houses so often that one couple in these chain of houses become her personal fantasy. She calls them Jason and Jess. She sees them everyday on the balcony and they are so perfect and happy, unlike herself...or so she thinks.
We also see the perspective of Megan. Who's Megan? Megan sits outside on her balcony every morning and watches the train stop, wait and continue to pass everyday.
One day, Megan disappears and Rachel knows something. She can become a part of their lives, but who is going to trust a drunk stalker? This story is a twisted thriller and there are a few little things we learn about each character that they would want to keep hidden forever.
